When is the Next Google Page rank – PR update 2011
Note: This is regularly updated article as to followup with the Google PR changes on the internet. The last Major Google PR update was on June 27th 2011. There was a minor PR update on November 8th (there are chances this could again be updated soon)
Assuming you have that you have reached this page because you already know what is a page rank, Let me continue.. Page Rank values vary from 0 – 10, PR0 being the least and PR10 the Highest valued.
As per the previous Google Page rank updates as we have seen yet and shown in the table above we can approximately say when we are expecting the next update. The updates till now as per my observations were :

Now i have enough confirmation from thousands of webmasters and forums that it has finally arrived here. I would say the Page rank was updating data center by data center and now majority of the webmasters confirm that the page rank update for the year 2011 has arrived on January 20, 2011. The latest update when PR was removed from the google toolbar – On October 15, 2009, Google employee Susan Moskwa confirmed that the company had removed Page Rank from its Webmaster Tools section. Her post said in part, "We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true"
Google doesn't want people to focus on increasing their pagerank. Google wants people to focus on improving their websites. They want people to focus on adding more unique and helpful content. They want people to speed up their sites. They want people to earn links because of the quality of the content they have created. That's why they removed that pagerank meter from the Webmaster Tools.

Where did you glean this information from about there not being one anymore Markus? Is this something to do with the rumour regarding the rights of page rank belonging to a university in England and the rights expiring end of 2010?

BUT, google confirms on their support link that Google PR is never Dead! just that the update frequency would differ.

I'm seeing a lot of websites that has ranked PR 4-6 and dropped to 2-3.
I hope PR is not yet dead.
Basically this shift happens and its even sometimes referred to as "google dance" thats a abrupt shift in Page ranks and Search Engine results ranks.
What i have understood is – this is a sign that google is discouraging forced Search engine optimization like, paid link backs and non-related link backs.
ideally a link back should be from a related niche and higher PR website.
Lets wait and see, i assume seeing the trends, there should be an upward trend for most webmasters in PR, since last time it was a downward trend for even major websites.

Looks like Page Rank (toolbar) is no more – google will likely be keeping PR internal. I've written about this on my own blog at infocarnivore dot com, where there is a lenghty comment discussion about PR updates and why google is ditching the toolbar update.

If that is the case then that would frown many faces! The PR update drives the SEO Biz, but i have always felt – the G-PR is over hyped and given too much importance.

Well certainly many SEO folks would not be happy, but it would only motivate them to measure their success in other ways. Google is tired of PR being the metric people are chasing when it is simply not the only thing that determines the SERPs.
Would love to hear something from google directly, but I think they love creating the suspense…

We cannot yet confirm that this is THE page rank update. there could be minor page rank updates or this could be part of some google dance or shift.
I observed 4 of my websites showed a pagerank changed and the rest 16 websites are having the same page rank.
I was also updated by majority of my users that PR did not change on my forum and very few ppl observed a change.

All i can confirm now is it would not be before mid April. Last year the update was in first week of April. But this year the previous update was late.

The latest update from the webmasters around the globe is that still there has not been any confirmation of a major PR update from Google.
There could be isolated PR movements for some websites here and there, but we cannot confirm that it is a confirmed Page Rank update from Google.

How do you find out if Google itself says nothing, they keep it secret or something
is just an opinion, but look in 2010 they made only one update in April. In not regular to update.
They made one in july also, not a big update but still a update.!
And only time will tell if there is gonna be more updates, than the one i January.

It is not that Google is not following the last year's trends of defined multiple updates. Google PR is an ongoing procedure as the pattern in this year by doing many minor updates rather than defined huge updates like every year.
The update is nearing, but If you ask the same at Google Blog, your reply will be same and cold as WHY are you bothered about Google PR update.
This is because Google already is well versed about the link market and want to discourage forced optimization for higher pageranks.
MY suggestion, Continue your efforts and stay tuned!

And what happens if it is updated in may 2011? Nothing… It does not bring you more visitors or better results in the serps. Watch out for mozrank though – real marketers and seo-s work with that and not with PR. It is no longer as reliable…
They should really make the PR updates more often… it sucks how long you have to wait !
I think the hype has died down on pr updates as less blogs are posting about it.
PR as seen from the toolbar is outdated since PR is actually updated everyday. As webmasters we really should not bothered much about the toolbar PR as it does not determine traffic. What we want is keyword rankings, and an increasing PR is a result of a keyword ranking campaign.
The only usage for toolbar PR is to sell text links, other advertisements, and gaining link partners. Though when caught selling links the PR would go down anyway!
Google has updated PR in May. I saw PR of designyoutrust has jumped to 6 from 3.
SERPs have been fluctuating for the past week, now I checked google/webmaster and link are unavailable? anyone else getting this?

I personally dont think Google will stop PR update, but they are certainly showing trends of using it more as an internal metrics rather than a public metric. The reason is to stop the virally growing link sales market and forced optimization. I still do feel that the next update is near the corner. PageRank is probably one of the most important algorithms ever developed for the Web.
PageRank is not simply based upon the total number of inbound links.
The basic approach of PageRank is that a document is in fact considered the more important the more other documents link to it,
but those inbound links do not count equally.
good points here about Trust now being a major factor in search engine results,
that goes with what Rand and others have been saying too.
this also settles for me the value of a natural approach to gaining backlinks and not getting a huge bunch of them,
or a large # of high pr backlinks in a short period of time – it rather undermines the Trust factor.
I do wonder what you think of bing and how Trust does/will play a role in their results.
it seems to me from a rather preliminary and cursory look at some results and comparing those to over at google and yahoo,
that bing ofter relies more on the keyword/s being the actual url,
which seems to me a rather poor way to rank sites/pages.

The Google has released another minor page rank update few weeks back. After that update I got the PR 3 for my blog tips and tricks blog. I think they do this because they want to replace the PR which were given for co[dot]cc domains. Since they blocked them most of the people have to change their domain names even me. So they may think to give the appropriate PR for new domains.
Now I am looking for next update. Until then I will update my blog as much as I can.

Don't fall into the "number of backlinks" trap. It's not the number of backlinks that matter, but the quality of those backlinks.
You'll find 1000 backlinks from 0 ranked sites will do worse than 2 backlinks from 2 PR4 sites.

i just have 2 backlink but when i check pr, i have pr 3.. Until now..
Contrary to what I read about the importance of backlinks for pagerank, one of our most-traffic-receiving page with no backlinks from external sites, was promoted to pagerank 3 on August 2. Can anyone explain? Was it perhaps because it was being bookmarked?

Looks like the PR was updated this week. My PR is gone too.
Don't think this is a PR update, it seems like some sort of algorithm or update and PRs are simply dancing. Most of the top websites also show PR as zero or na. Let's wait for some time to find out if there is an update.

My online store was launched in August, so I'm interested to see what pagerank the site is once there has been a Google Pagerank update.

Yes, There has been a minor pagerank update from Google and many webmasters have reported positive changes.
but thats not it and we have to still continue our wait for a solid update.
