I'm into basic video editing and making photo presentations. I like Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas. I once used pinnacle but didn't get why it required lot of space( i remember it took nearly 1.5 GB space) However, all are trial versions or OEM. So i can't complain!
In my personal opinion, I enjoy using adobe premiere. When you are talking about any beginner into video editing, I strongly recommend windows movie make and apple final cut both work like pros.
