User Generated Content websites
As the term suggests, UGC (user generated content) websites are portals that receive content from the website users itself. This might sound easy but launching such a website to autopilot mode is challenging.
Let me take an example of one UGC website that I own – UsedMobiles.in – this is a mobile classifieds website that I have built on the WordPress framework using an application theme called ClassiPress from appthemes.
The Classipress theme almost immediately converted my WordPress blog installation into a fully fledged classifieds website, later I started adding dummy contents and doing SEO for the portal. Now after 1 year this is a highly used used mobiles platform and clock more than 2 million page views a month. That means, I don’t have to spend any time writing articles, all I have to do is to collect the monthly Adsense paychecks 🙂 thats the beauty of UGC websites.
Usedmobiles portal was an example only, you could think of different ideas that will help a website grow on the content submitted by the users and such websites require no continued feeding to grow once you launch and establish.
Take home: understand the power of UGC and craft your own similar portal that can always remain as a golden arrow to your arsenal of websites.
